
Educational Event – “Native Plants for Green Roofs and Living Walls”

Bruce Dvorak, Associate Professor in the School of Architecture at TAMU, will speak on green roof technology and how this feature of sustainable design can mitigate environmental stresses such as heat, flooding, drought, and air pollution in urban environments.
Bruce Dvorak is an associate professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Texas A&M University. In 2009, Bruce established the Interdisciplinary Green Roof Research Group at Texas A&M University, and in 2021 he established the Southern Plains Regional Academic Center of Excellence with Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. Bruce has published extensively on living walls and green roofs including his edited book Ecoregional Green Roofs: Theory and Application in the Western USA and Canada. The book received an Honor Award in Research from the America Society of Landscape Architects in 2021. Bruce writes the quarterly plants column for the Living Architecture Monitor where he writes about native plants for green roofs.
